NZX Announcement - Palmerston North City Council Environment Court Application

NZ Windfarms Limited ("NWF") has received notification that the Palmerston North City Council ("PNCC") has lodged an Application for Declaration in the Environment Court with respect to the noise characteristics and noise levels of the Te Rere Hau wind farm.

The Application challenges Te Rere Hau's compliance with the existing noise conditions and seeks to impose more stringent noise conditions on the farm.

Te Rere Hau is a 47.5 megawatt wind farm under construction in the Tararua Range to the east of Palmerston North. The wind farm uses New Zealand manufactured Windflow 500 turbines to generate renewable energy, which is injected into the national grid.

Chief Executive Chris Sadler said the company has recently completed another round of noise monitoring and its noise consultant has determined that the wind farm is compliant with the resource consent conditions, and has provided the requisite reports to the PNCC in support of this.
